Standalone New Adult

Briarcrest Academy #3 (all novels are standalones)

Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills

Release Date: March 1

A sassy violinist who lives next door…
The rock star who spies on her…
And the one night she bares it all.
Life will never be the same in Tinseltown.

Vital Rejects front guy Sebastian Tate never imagined his YouTube music video would go viral, sky-rocketing him to acting success in Hollywood. Okay, maybe he did. After all, he’s a cocky dude who knows he’s hot-as-hell, and it was only a matter of time before his stars aligned.

But life in Tinseltown is never what it seems.

After being cheated on, his only rule to falling in love is simple: Keep Calm and Don’t Do It. Spying on his mysterious new neighbor with binoculars seems innocent enough, but quickly escalates into an erotic game between two very unlikely people.

Twenty-year-old Violet St. Lyons is a world-renowned violinist who’s lost her mojo on stage. She hides away in a Hollywood mansion, trying to find her way through her twisted past in order to make her future.

He’s the life of the party with girls chasing him down for his autograph. She’s the introvert with a potty mouth who doesn’t even know who he is.

When they meet, stars collide, sparks fly, and clothes come off. Yet, giving his heart to a girl isn’t Sebastian’s plan; falling for a guy who craves attention isn’t Violet’s.

Welcome to Briarcrest Academy—Hollywood style—where sometimes the best things in life are VERY TWISTED THINGS.

4.5 “Violin Girl” and “Blond Guy” stars!!

I have been a fan of the Briarcrest Academy series from day one!! And even though Very Twisted Things can be read as a standalone, it was awesome to know so much about the characters prior to starting. Except, Violet, of course, and her story is what made Very Twisted Things even better!! That beginning will take your breath away.

“He’d given me another chance at life. He’d wanted me to live. When was I going to start?”

So, if you are a fan of and have read the previous two books, this is Sebastian’s story. And Sebastian is amazing! Yeah, he is a guy and he made some mistakes but deep down he has a heart of gold. Always doing things to help others. And his best friend Spider…the story would not have been the same without his humor. I was laughing out loud at his comments. I must admit I did miss Leo and Nora, though.

“Bloody hell, I’ve got two beautiful birds on either side of me. All we need now is a dark room, a big-ass bed, and some lube.”

Very Twisted Things has a lot to it. Violet and Sebastian are neither searching for love, or even a relationship, but when love lives right next door and has so much in common with you, what can you do??? Fight it….yep, one of them does!!! But fate has a different plan. Sebastian and Violet’s story is funny, HOT, a tad sad, and a lot frustrating at times.

“He looked like a dessert I wanted to sink my teeth into, and I had to keep reminding myself that I was on a low calorie diet when it came to relationships.”

From the very beginning of this series I knew Sebastian’s story (if he got one) would be a good one. His character is very lovable (but very bossy when needed) and I was happy to see him follow his dreams to a happily ever after. Especially a happily ever after with someone so perfect for him.

“I happen to dig different, Violin Girl.”

This story flows so well. I felt like it was over before I was ready for it to end. There is so much love with just enough drama to keep you questioning where they go next. If you haven’t started this series, I recommend you do so. But even if you don’t start from the beginning, Very Twisted Things can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend it!!! Happy Reading 🙂
