Ummmm….ok, so that just happened!! This story was a HUGE surprise to me. I went in thinking sweet second chance love story, and came out thinking WTF just happened!! And I can honestly say that there are many things I liked about this story but also a few things I didn’t.

“Duke, you are a one-of-a-kind. Don’t ever think that you’re not enough. Because, trust me, you are.”

In the beginning, it is that sweet love story start that I expected. We are introduced to Melanie, Duke, Rob, and Raya, who are all very important characters in this story. And my emotions struggled a tad bit because I liked Melanie just as much as Raya and was sad to see her lose the guy 🙁  But, they all handle it well…probably a little too well for their age. I sorta felt like it was a little too unbelievable but just my opinion. The bond that these four have is heartwarming and to watch it continue throughout this shocking story, warmed my heart even more.

“I no longer have the will to fight and live, because in the end, I’ve lost. This is my life.”

So, that shocker I mentioned, it happened around halfway through the story…I think. And I actually sat my kindle down to take it all in. Why wasn’t I prepared for this?? That warning after the synopsis about “disturbing situations,” somehow I forgot about it. LOL!! But, anyways, that is where the story changes and my heart broke. I am not going into any detail on that, though, because I would hate to accidentally spoil any of it. Just know that a lot happens!!

“I know she’s out there, somewhere far away, and I want her back. I’m aware that everyone thinks I’m crazy, but she’s all I have and I won’t give up on her.”

This review is hard for me to write because the story line of this book grabbed me and I loved it, but there were many times that I felt I needed more. Mostly towards the end is where I wanted the more. The ending felt too rushed. I could connect well with the characters in the beginning but I just couldn’t grasp the connection in the end. Too much had happened and the connection wasn’t deep enough.

But, as I have said, even with needing more of some parts, I still enjoyed this story and do recommend you all give it a try 🙂
