But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. Soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.
Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s the one I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the risk—what-ifs be damned. . . .
Taming Lily was an interesting and engaging story. It is the third book in Monica Murphy’s Fowler Sisters Series. Now normally I don’t read books out of order, but do to time constraints, I had to read this book first before the others. After reading this book I am looking forward to going back and reading books 1 & 2.What I found totally interesting, is that this book read like a continuing story from the first two books, because the author carried the Villian over through all three books, but this also can totally be read as a stand-alone. I never felt lost or confused. Monica does a fantastic job keeping the reader informed without giving away too much of the previous books. I thought the storyline and writing was fantastic, but I have been a fan of Monica’s books for awhile now. My only complaint with this story, is that I thought the sex took over too much of the storyline. By the end of the book I was getting tired of the sex….that’s all it seemed that Lily and Max did. I thought the underlying storyline could’ve been built upon. I also thought the way the story wrapped up with Pilar (the villain of the series) was to abrupt. I felt that it wasn’t finished….I wanted more out of that. But as I said earlier, I truly enjoyed reading this story!!!!
In this installment of the series, we meet Lily, the oldest of the Fowler Sisters and also the trouble maker, and Max, he is a private investigator hired to tail Lily and take back a piece of stolen property. Max and Lily were great characters. I felt bad for Lily on many occasions, she had such low self esteem and felt she was better off running away to Maui. I loved that we got to see the true side to these two characters. It was fun watching them open up to each other. Their journey to happiness was not an easy one, but I am glad everything worked out in the end.
This story was a story filled with lies, betrayal, mystery, suspense and sex. What a great combination to keep the pages turning!!
I would recommend this story to everyone. I thought it had the right combination of everything to satisfy every reader. If you are a fan of Monica Murphy’s then I would say you don’t want to miss this book. I am looking forward to reading the other two books.
