~ 4 Stars ~

Finding Jordie by H. J. Harley took me by surprise, in a good way. I know this book interested me when I read the blurb, but I was pleasantly surprised all this book had to offer.

This story had a little bit of everything, it had humor, action, suspense, love and romance….oh and I can’t forget a Swoonworthy movie star. I was intrigued with this book from the first page all the way to the last page. This was really sweet love story but also a suspenseful page turner that I couldn’t put down. This story was an insta-love type story, so if you aren’t a fan of those this might not work for you. My only real complaint about the story was the ending. Don’t get me wrong I am happy with the way it ended, but I thought it was kind of abrupt….I turned the page and couldn’t believe that was the end. I would’ve really liked an epilogue, it would’ve finished out Nathan and Jordan’s story a little better and wouldn’t have made the ending rushed.

I did enjoy the writing style of this author, I know I will read other books of hers in the future. The storyline and character development was spot on in my opinion. I thought everything moved smoothly and at the right pace. I think I would’ve liked this to be written in Dual POV, because there were times I wanted to know what Nathan was thinking, but that didn’t deter me from enjoying the story.

I really liked all the characters we met in this book. Jordan and Nathan are the main characters of this story, but the secondary characters were just as important and I liked them just as much. Jordan is a single mom who happens to own a hot spot in New York City. She lost her husband 8 yrs ago and has struggled to really jump back into the land of the living. That is until she meets Nathan. Nathan is hot movie star who is smitten with Jordan because she is the first person who treats him like him and not for his star status. I liked watching these two open up to each other as the story went on. I loved how Nathan accepted Emma (Jordan’s daughter) and tried to fit into their lives. Now don’t get me wrong Jordan and Nathan do have some serious bumps in the road to overcome, but what I liked is that they faced them together, except for the big bump towards the end of the book, but rest assured things work out in the end.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for that book that has it all, humor, action, suspense, love, romance, a sassy heroine who can hold her own and a swoontastic movie star hero. This book will definitely have you smiling throughout the book. It was a fun, easy and edge of your seat kind of read.

HJ grew up in Bricktown New Jersey, less than an hour away from New York City. As a teenager and early twenties, she loved hanging out in the glamor of NYC. She was a “City Brat” so it was pretty difficult for her to pack her stuff and three cats in 2005, for a life changing road trip, moving to California. She’s travelled around the country until she met her better half in 2005.

After serving twelve years in the Air Force, the man of her dreams ended his military career and they moved to Georgia in 2007. Since then, they’ve settled down in Leesburg GA, and had their first child.

No place has ever come close to replacing the magic of New York City for HJ. So when it was decided to try this romance writing gig out, naturally her first book ‘Finding Jordie’ would be set there.

HJ enjoys reading, and spending time with her family. Reality TV is a guilty pleasure and she’s a sucker for romantic comedies and Robert Pattinson. HJ is a pro at goofing off, She talks with her hands, (She’s Italian!) She drinks way too much coffee, and gets too little sleep. Oh, and she has a thing for Jackie-O sized sunglasses. HJ’s has five furry kids and most importantly, one beautiful daughter. HJ is always striving to be the best Mom possible.

HJ’s very passionate about the things she loves, that’s why she was outraged when they cancelled SMASH and Southland! It should be considered a small miracle if you ever get to see a serious or pic of her posing all nice and pretty…She’s not that girl. She’s a spontaneous goof and believes the best things in life come naturally. Yes, that includes random no make-up selfies during a 2:00a.m. writing marathon.
