the-play-mate-kendall-ryanSmith Hamilton has it all—he’s smart, good-looking and loaded. But he remembers a time when he had nothing and no one, so he’s not about to mess up, especially with his best friend’s little sister. That means keeping Evie at arm’s length … even though the once pesky little girl is now a buxom bombshell. A sexy blonde who pushes his self-control to the limit the night she crawls into bed with him.

Evie Reed knows she’s blessed—with an exclusive education, a family who loves her, and a new job managing social media for her family’s lingerie company. But she wants more, like a reason to wear the sexy lingerie herself. She has just the man in mind to help with that. She’s crushed on Smith forever. Surely tricking her way into his bed will force him to see her in a new, adult way.

Except that when Evie’s plan leads to disaster, she and Smith must decide—ignore the attraction sizzling between them, or become play mates and risk it all.

~ 5 We’re Not Just Friends Stars ~

I have to say I am loving this Roommate Series by Kendall Ryan. So far the books are fun, easy, and truly entertaining.

The Play Mate is the second book in this series of standalone novels. I love that each book is a complete standalone and focuses on new characters and storylines. This is a friends to lovers story told in Dual POV. It’s also a slightly forbidden story because the heroine is the little sister of the Hero best friend. This book isn’t filled with a lot of drama but the storyline will keep you entertained so you don’t get bored with the book. The flow and pace of the story worked well for this couple and their story.

I liked that Kendall took her time getting Smith and Evie together. Even though they had been friends for years she didn’t rush their connection. She had it slow build and created a lot of yummy sexual tension 😉 Kendall has a way with giving her readers the perfect mix of sexy times and storyline. So the book isn’t overrun with either. The Play Mate was truly a lighthearted read that is perfect for a day at the beach or when you just want escape to world that will make you swoon.

In this book we follow Evie and Smith’s story. Smith is the best friend of Evie’s older brother and is 7 years older than Evie. Smith is a slightly broken Hero, but I loved that Kendall didn’t overplay that when it came to his character. He had some trust issues and even some self worth issues, but as time went by Evie was able to help him out with those. Evie on the other hand has been secretly crushing on Smith for years and has finally decided to something about it. When her surprise in Paris goes kind of sideways and then her brother throws her a shocker of his own, how will Evie and Smith work through everything?? Can Smith get past Evie being off limits?? What happens when Evie’s feelings turn into something more??

Read The Play Mate to find out all those answers and more!!!

I liked meeting Cullen (Evie’s Brother) in this book and I wouldn’t mind seeing a book about him sometime in the future. I think he needs his HEA too.

If a friends to lovers romance is your type of book, then don’t hesitate…..READ THIS BOOK!!! Or if you are a fan of Kendall Ryan’s books, you don’t want to miss this latest gem!! I look forward to what she will give us next in this series.
