My name is Devin, but everybody calls me Sketch. I opened my own tattoo shop two years ago, and I’ve finally gotten to the point where I’m going to be able to give my wife everything she’s ever wanted. I’m going to be able to take time off and spend a day a week with her. In fact, tonight, I stopped and grabbed some wine, got her flowers, and those chocolates she likes.

What I wasn’t prepared for was to be met at the front door by her carrying her sh*t out.
She loves me, but she’s not in love with me anymore. What kind of bulls*it excuse is that? I’ve left her alone too often, I’ve been completely focused on one goal, and apparently she’s sick of waiting.
So here I stand. Half the man I was, p*ssed as f*ck, because while I was busy making a better life for us, she was under the impression I was leaving her lonely. I know one day she’ll see what I’ve been doing has been for us, and when that day comes… She can damn well come crawling back to me.

SKETCH Review :

~ 5 Rebuilding Stars ~

Sketch is the first book by Laramie Briscoe that I have read and I am happy to say it won’t be my last.

When I agreed to read this arc I took a chance on a new author and I am so glad I did, because this book was fantastic!!! The writing was flawless and the storyline was captivating. This story was told primarily from Sketch’s POV but we do get some chapters in Nina’s as well. I thought that worked well because we got to see what both characters were feeling and what each thought was wrong with their marriage.

I was drawn to this book one because of the cover 😉 and two because it was about a married couple. I haven’t’ read many books when the Hero and heroine are married, so that really attracted me to this story. I thought the author gave an accurate portrayal of what happens in a marriage when the communication is missing or goes away. Anyone will tell you the key to a happy relationship is open communication and they are so right. I also loved that Nina and Devin were the true focus of this story. There weren’t a lot of extra characters to take away from the real story.

In this book we meet Nina and Devin (Sketch) Solomon. They have been married for 7 years and have hit a rough spot in their marriage. Sketch is a tattoo artist and owns his own shop. Nina is his wife who over the course of the marriage has felt neglected by Devin. Sketch is finally at a place in his life and with the shop that he feels he can step back and spend more time with Nina. But she has other ideas. She’s ready to walk away. Will this couple be able to overcome their obstacles and find their way back to their HEA?? you’ll just have to read this story to find out.

Sketch is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger. I thought this was a great book and would recommend it to everyone. I mean who doesn’t love a Hero who is a tattoo artist 😉
