Ugly. Freak. Fatty.  I had been called those things and more for as long as I could remember.  I didn’t mind it, though, because to the outside world, those words described me perfectly.  But it was all a charade, a façade to keep people away.  Never let anyone get too close.  It had worked for twelve years of my life, ever since I caused my father’s death.
And then Carter Anderson pushed his way into my world.  Gorgeous, of course, charming, naturally, and cocky, a given—he called himself my friend and broke through every one of my carefully constructed walls.
Cue the “happily ever after,” right?  Wrong.
This isn’t some fairy tale where the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan, and once the beauty beneath is revealed, all is right in the world.  This is real life.  When things seem too good to be true, it’s because they usually are.  And when people say your past will come back to bite you, they mean it.  And trust me, it does.

~ 5 Love Beneath the Beauty Stars ~

The Beauty Beneath was just an amazing read!! It captured my attention right from the start and kept me intrigued to the very end. I truly believe this is a book everyone should read. The message it sends is such a powerful one.

This book is a standalone novel told in Dual POV by D.C. Renee. This is the second book I have read by her and I loved this one just as much as the first book. Her writing style is amazing. She gives us wonderful characters and such thought provoking storylines. The pace and flow of her stories are spot on. This book will touch on all of your emotions. You will laugh, cry, smile, swoon and yell. This story wasn’t really a suspenseful book, but the author did add in some twists I didn’t see coming. I love when an author can take me by surprise while reading their book.

In this book we follow the journey to healing of Emerson and Carter. This book was a poignant and heartfelt story. I really don’t want to talk about the storyline too much because I think this is a book everyone needs to experience themselves. Just know I loved the journey that D.C. took Carter and Emerson. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like Carter too much, but boy did he melt my heart. I loved Emerson’s character….she was so broken and determined to live her life behind her shell and not let anyone in. Little did she know that Carter doesn’t take NO for an answer. What happens when, what starts as an arrangement, turns into something more?? What happens when secrets come to light?? Will Carter and Emerson be able to work through anything? Can they each see the beauty that lies beneath the surface?? Read this book to find out.

We also met some secondary characters that I thought were amazing. Beth (Carter’s sister) is the BFF every girl wants. She was so open and welcoming!! I wasn’t sure what to make of Carter’s best friends, just because how they are introduced into the story, you want to hate them, but I was so glad to see that the author took them in a different direction, because in the end I really liked all three of them. I actually hope Beth, and Carter’s friends get their own books!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a book about healing and the underdog coming out on top. If you have ever been judged on your looks or appearance, this is a book I think you should read. I believe it can give people hope 🙂

DC Renee has been writing all her life, from cheesy poems in elementary school
(i’ll share an example just so you know how cheesy: Flowers are my favorite
thing; they usually bloom during spring. Pink, blue, yellow and green, so many
colors that I have seen…etc.) to short stories and monologues, and eventually
fan fictions for Days of Our Lives.
It was thanks to that superbly encouraging fan fiction community that DC found
the courage to publish her first book – Let Me Go. It held fast in the top 100
Best Selling Contemporary Romance Fiction Novels on Amazon for over a month,
going as low as the top 20’s. Naturally, she loves to read, but she also likes
watching hockey, dancing for fun, and loves her family.
