~ 4 Stars ~
Laramie Briscoe has given us another enjoyable read in her Moonshine Task Force Series.
I think I was looking forward to Havoc the most because I have been intrigued with his character since the very beginning. I have to say I LOVED Havoc (Holden) he is my favorite of MTF guys. I loved seeing this side of him. He is the perfect mix of protective Alpha and tender hearted. He’ll make you swoon with his protectiveness and the sweet things he says to Leighton. He also know how to bring on the steam 😉
The one thing I had a problem with in this book was the length of the book or when things played out in the story. I would’ve liked to see what happens in the last 25% if the book to have happened a little sooner. Maybe cut out some of the extra filler about Holden and Leighton’s relationship. I think it would’ve added more of that edge of your seat type feel to it. Besides the last 25% there really wasn’t any drama and it was just a really sweet love story, which isn’t bad if it’s not dragged out, in my opinion. But even with that said, I did enjoy this book and would recommend this to all of Laramie’s fans.
I loved the characters and I thought the storyline was interesting enough, but I felt it lacked that angst and drama that can keep a reader on their toes. I thought the pace and flow of the story was well written. I also enjoyed that she has set up the storyline for the next book in the series (or at least I think she did).
Havoc is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV and I do believe this book can be read completely alone. I don’t think Renegade and Tank need to be read first. Laramie filled in all the spots that need to be when it comes to past characters or storylines. But if you want to connect with all the characters in this series it wouldn’t be a bad thing to read these books in order. We do see some of the past characters in this story because they do interact with both Holden and Leighton. But I also liked that we got to meet some new characters and I look forward to their stories as well.
So if you are looking for a sweet love story that started out as an agreement and turned into something so much more, or you love a strong protective Alpha Hero, then pick up Havoc and enjoy Holden and Leighton’s story.
