~ 5 Perfect Ending Stars ~
Axel and Angel are back and still as fabulous as before!!!!
Forever My Angel is the fourth book in Kelly Walker’s Chadwell Hearts Series. Now unlike the other 3 books, this one is NOT a Standalone. I truly believe that you must read No One’s Angel first (Book 1). I don’t think it is necessary to have to read books 2 & 3 first but this book will be a spoiler for book 3, No One’s Surrender.
Forever My Angel is told from Axel’s POV (Which I LOVED by the way) and runs the same time frame as No One’s Surrender. While reading Book 3 there were many times that I was wondering what Axel was thinking and feeling and after reading this book my questions were answered. I thought this was the perfect sequel for Axel and Angel. It made their story feel complete 🙂
Like I said before this book takes place at the same time as No One’s Surrender. This book starts off with Axel’s mom and brother coming into town after being gone for 18 years. This is the story of how Axel handles this all while trying to make a life for him and Angel. I absolutely love Axel…he is at the top of my book boyfriend list. He is an alpha with a capital A, but he has the heart of gold and is fiercely protective of the ones he loves.
As with all of the books in this series, we are thrust right into the thick of the story from page one. That is probably my favorite thing about Kelly’s writing. She knows how to get to the heart of the story without adding in all the extra information we don’t need. Her books are fast paced and flow effortlessly. I truly believe her writing gets better with every book she has written. Her stories and characters consume me all the way through and I truly don’t want her books to ever end. I know there is one more book in this series yet to come, but I am already sad knowing the end is near. This series is one of my favorites and one I will recommend to everyone!!!
I feel bad waking her. And I don’t blame her for being cranky. I’ve woken her with some excuse or another every few hours all night long. The discharge papers said she should rest, and that it was fine for her to sleep, contrary to popular belief about concussions, but I just have to know she’s okay. Now that the adrenaline has faded, the fear of her being taken from me has settled in and I’m trying to quell my crazy but it’s an uphill battle in reverse.
“Don’t make me fight dirty.” My fingers ease under the covers, finding the curve of her waist, then begin skimming lightly across her flesh to cup her ass. She shoves me away, cocking one eye open. But I see the ghost of a smile, so I flash her a teasing grin. “Okay, fine. I brought coffee.”
She rolls her eyes, both of them open now. “Well why didn’t you say so?” Her hand covers her mouth as she fails to suppress a yawn. Once she’s shifted so she’s sitting against the pile of pillows propped against the headboard, she reaches for the tray, her hand freezing in midair. “Iced coffee and coffee-coffee?” One eyebrow lifts in amusement.
I shrug. “I didn’t know which you’d be in the mood for.” She usually drinks a steaming hot cup of coffee first thing every morning, and then iced coffee throughout the day, but sometimes she goes right for the iced stuff.
“And the sprite?”
“I thought your stomach might be upset from the meds.” The doctors gave her some mild painkillers, stating she’d likely be pretty sore.
“Okay, one last question.” She gives me a somber look.
“What the hell did those eggs ever do to you?” Her seriousness dissolves into a face splitting grin, and then she’s shaking with futile attempts not to laugh.
Seeing her so relaxed–even at my expense–eases something inside me and I breathe a little easier. She’s really okay. My Angel is going to be fine. And so are we. We’re going to weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side.
“Haven’t you ever had a scramlet before?”
“Is that a Philly thing, or an Axel thing?”
