Wicked Favor AMAZONNew York Times bestselling author, Sawyer Bennett, is happy to introduce a new Wicked Horse club in Las Vegas and you’re cordially invited to attend the grand opening…

As the owner of The Wicked Horse, an elite sex club located along the Vegas Strip, Jerico Jameson never spends the night alone. Gorgeous, ripped, and totally alpha, Jerico doesn’t grant favors and will rarely give you the time of day—unless he wants you in his bed. So when the sister of his sworn enemy shows up asking for help, saying no should be easy. But when Jerico takes one look at her and sees an opportunity to help this beautiful woman while exacting revenge on her brother, he’s not about to pass that up.

Beaten and bruised, Trista Barnes is running out of options, and Jerico is her last chance to get out of the mess she’s in. She doesn’t know why Jerico despises her brother so much, but as long as he can help her, she doesn’t care. Jerico offers her safety while opening her up to a sinful world she never knew existed.

As she succumbs to Jerico’s erotic charm, Trista lets herself fall into the wicked world of guilt free pleasure with no regrets. Under his strong alpha hand, she blooms, and so does Jerico’s possessiveness. But what happens when Trista finds out she was a pawn in Jerico’s game all along, and that the price for his favor was steeper than she ever imagined – her heart.

We’re at a table with six other people who Jerico knows. It hits me suddenly that he’s not just a hermit who hides in The Wicked Horse, but a real businessman. He owns a prominent security-consulting company and is probably very involved with the community if he’s attending functions like this.

I sit quietly, feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Women as the men discuss business and politics and the women talk to each other and ignore me. I only hope to God they don’t bring escargot because I definitely cannot eat it, and I don’t feel like being embarrassed by flinging a shell across the room.

When the salad is served, however, the chatter across the table dies down and Jerico turns slightly toward me as we eat. Leaning over, he whispers, “I hate all this polite chitchat.”

I have to swallow down a giggle before I whisper back to him. “Well, suck it up and eat your salad.”

Jerico responds by putting his hand on my leg, giving it a squeeze, and then using his fingers to pull at the silk of my gown. He gets it to rise right to my knees and then his hand is snaking under. I slap a hand on his wrist, look around the table to see everyone engaged in food or personal talk, and then I make a decision.

Not to stop him but to pull his hand up higher. I do this while watching Jerico’s nostrils flare and his eyes darken with arousal. But he does nothing more than squeeze the inside of my thigh before taking his hand away. I grin at him in satisfaction when he leans over once more to whisper, “Would you have really let me finger you under the table?”

“Yes,” I whisper back to him, my skin tingling with the prospect of what I almost let him do.

“Dirty girl,” he says with appreciation in his eyes. “But even I have my limits on what I’ll do in public. Besides, you’re too much of a screamer. We would have never gotten away with it.”

Title: Love in Transit

Genre:  Contemporary Romance

About Love In Transit:

You know those people that have a house full of motivational slogans? Embrace Every Moment, stamped on their coffee mugs. Always Kiss Me Goodnight painted above their perfectly made beds.

I’m not one of those people.

This morning I overslept, then slipped on a stray sock and banged my toe into the nightstand. The elevator in my building broke and I had to run down six flights of stairs. And then my local coffee shop was closed. For health code violations.

What’s that? Not the end of the world? You want me to suck it up?

Did I mention I’m wearing a wedding dress… on the subway?

It’s a Good Day for a Hot Mess. Someone embroider that on a pillow.

~ 4.5 Stars ~

This anthology was such a fun change of pace for me. I normally don’t like anthologies but this was such a new concept I couldn’t pass it up. I wanted to see how six authors could create 6 completely different stories using the same blurb. Well let me say they did a FANTASTIC job. Overall I would give this a 4.5 Stars and I would totally recommend this book to everyone. It truly has something for everyone.

Below I will give a short review of each of the stories. Basically what my overall feelings were for the story. I don’t go into detail about the storylines because I believe that is the true fun of reading this book. To see how each author gave us a fresh new story.

Times Square by Jana Aston
~ 5 Fairytale inside an Ordinary Life Stars ~

Hero = Max
Heroine = Lauren

1st person POV
Female POV

Fun and engaging storyline and characters. Made me laugh and swoon all the way to the end. Well written and a lot of content in a novella length story.

St. George Station by Ainsley Booth
~ 4 Star ~

Hero = Toby
Heroine = Cara

1st person POV
Dual POV

I enjoyed this story it just wasn’t my favorite of all of them. I thought the storyline was great and I loved this author’s take on the blurb. This novella was packed with a lot for being the size of a novella. Sometimes I even thought it slowed the pace down a little too much. Overall this was another great addition to this anthology.

The Hammersmith & City Line by Kitty French
~ 4 Stars ~

Hero = Ryan
Heroine = Connie

1st person POV
Female POV

This was an interesting story. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one bc I haven’t read this author before, but I truly enjoyed it. I will say she took it in a direction I was NOT expecting but it worked so well for this story and these characters.

The Loop by BJ Harvey
~ 5 Stars ~

Hero = Cameron
Heroine = Sarah

1st person POV
Dual POV

As always I absolutely love anything BJ Harvey writes. This second chance romance was no different. She gave us an engaging storyline and lovable characters. The only negative is that I wanted more of this story!!!! Novellas always end way too soon for me…lol

Capitol South by Raine Miller
~ 3.5 Stars ~

Hero = Gray
Heroine = Reese

1st person POV
Dual POV

This one is hard for me to review because it started out with such potential but somewhere it went flat for me. I enjoyed the story but I found it hard to connect with the characters. Or I should say it was hard to feel their connection. I thought it was a good spin on this blurb but it wasn’t my favorite of the stories.

Wall Street Station by Liv Morris
~ 5 Stars ~

Hero = Seth
Heroine = Seraphina

1st person POV
Dual POV

This was one of my favorites in this series of novellas. I haven’t read a Liv Morris book before but after this short sampling I know I plan to read more books by this author. I loved the storyline of this novella and the characters too. This novella was well written and gave us a lot in such a short length. I’d love to read more about Sera and Seth.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.

Oops.  My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

3.5 Stars

Well, this story went in a much different direction than I originally thought. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the author surprises you. I like that!! He Lived Next Door is very different from what I am use to from this author. I was wowed by this author when I somehow picked up If I Break, 3 years ago…wait, how could it be 3 years?!? I have been anticipating every one of Portia’s releases ever since, which have been in the If I Break series. Until now!!

When I heard she had a new story line coming out, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it. Be warned, it’s different, though!!! He Lived Next Door is based around Bryce and Chassidy. They are college sweethearts who have been dealt a challenging deal at marriage. My heart broke for Chassidy and all she went through, but good lord, I wanted to shake her and tell her to open up to her husband!!

And Bryce…get your head out of your ass!!! Don’t get me wrong, he is an amazing and romantic guy, but he is a guy, and doesn’t get it a few times.

This story takes us through a rocky couple of months in Chassidy and Bryce’s life, and that’s all I am saying about that because you don’t want anyone to spoil it for you. The only thing I will say, because you find out quickly, is that there are two other guys of huge importance in this story 😉 I know, I am evil. HEHE!!

So, I am sure you are wondering why I gave it only 3.5 stars if I love this author so much, right?!? Well, as good as this story is, it didn’t even compare to this author’s previous stories. I didn’t feel the connection between the characters, as much as I would have liked. I felt that there was a lot of discussion and a lot of buildup in the beginning, with a bit of a rush in the last 30%.

Overall, good story!! And still one of my go to authors 🙂

Author Bio
I’m obsessed with blowing kisses. I guess that makes me a

Bella Jewel’s self-published novels hooked a whole audience of readers in and landed her on the USA Today bestseller list. Jewel debuted in print with 72 HOURS in April, hooking readers with her tense romantic suspense. Now she continues the series with THE WATCHER (St. Martin’s Press; May 30, 2017), another thrilling novel. When her sister goes missing, a woman must confront her horrific past with the help of the sexiest man she’s ever met.

After killing the serial killer who kidnapped her, Marlie Jacobson became famous overnight. She never wanted the fame and left to live in the shadows. But when her sister disappears, Marlie returns home and enlists the dangerously handsome, world-famous tracker Kenai Michelson to help find her missing sister.

Kenai agrees to work with Marlie, and as they grow closer, they can’t deny the powerful desire simmering between them. A nail biter from start to finish, Jewel’s new venture into romantic suspense is enthralling and will have you cheering on Marlie and Kenai as they track down a terrifying serial killer. THE WATCHER is a tightly spun plot with serious heat between the pages. This is only the start to Jewel’s new series as she will follow with her next romantic suspense book Blind Date this August.

~ 5 Chief Stars ~

WOW!!!! We have another hit on our hands with this book!! Juts like with 72 Hours, The Watcher is an exciting, thrilling, romantic suspense story. This book kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through.

I was captivated with this story right from the start of the prologue. The storyline completely sucked me in. Of course, because this is a suspenseful thriller, I won’t be able to discuss the plot of the story at all. You will want this story to unravel itself as your read the book. I will say I had a feeling where this story was going and I was partially right, but I NEVER could’ve thought up the twists and turns that Bella added to this story. I truly believe this book deserves more than 5 stars but that’s all I can give. This is definitely a MUST READ!!!

Bella Jewel’s romantic suspense stories are exactly what I look for in this type of story. They have interesting storylines, relatable characters and even a great romance story built in. I warn you though, if graphic violence isn’t your thing, then you might want to pass on these books. She doesn’t get overly graphic, but it is enough to make you squirm while reading the book. I know my stomach dropped a couple times reading what was happening to Kaitlyn and Marlie. It was kind of tough to read. Because the truth of the matter is I know that there are situations like this happening in real life and that scares me!!!

The Watcher is a standalone novel told primarily from Marlie’s POV but we do get a little bit of Kenai’s POV in there too. This book is a fairly quick read, but not because of it’s length but because it will suck you in and you won’t want to put this story down. As with 72 Hours, I really have nothing to complain about with The Watcher….it was everything I expected and more!!!! Very well written!!!! She gave us the perfect mix of suspense, mystery, angst, love and romance. You will totally walk away from reading this book feeling fulfilled. Hands down this is one of the BEST book of 2017 I have read so far.

The Watcher is such a strong story about strength and survival. Another great aspect is she gave us an enemies to lovers story. To say that Marlie and Kenai don’t exactly get along in the beginning is an understatement. I will say I loved their banter though….it had me chuckling on many occasions. I also loved Marlie’s strength….not only with Kenai, but with everything she did in life. Yes she is a broken heroine, but she was also so very brave!!! This is one heroine you will want to meet.

I honestly could go on and on about this book, but I don’t want to slip and spoil any of this book. Just READ THIS BOOK!!! You won’t be sorry. If you are a fan of Bella Jewel’s books and love a great thriller mixed with the perfect love story, then don’t miss out on this book!!!

~ 5 Adventure of a Lifetime Stars ~

I was so excited to find out that Kristen Proby was giving us a surprise novella for the Boudreaux Series. I can’t get enough of this series.

Well let me tell you, I was honored to receive an ARC of Easy Fortune and it was quite the little GEM 😉 I was so excited to see Lena get a story for herself. I really enjoyed her character in Easy Magic and wanted to see her get a HEA too.

Easy Fortune was an big adventure rolled into a short, sweet and sexy story. This book was filled with so much, it is hard to believe it is a novella. I didn’t feel that it was rushed in anyway or that anything was missing. Kristen gets to the heart of the story right from the first page. This book is a second chance romance but also had a amazing message built into the story through the eyes of Claudia (Mason’s Aunt)

In this book we follow Mason and Lena on a small adventure put together by his Aunt Claudia. Mason and Lena used to date 6 years ago and thought everything was going well until Mason just ups and leaves without a word to Lena. She was devastated. It took Lena awhile to get over the hurt Mason caused, but she finally did and now 6 years later Mason is back. Mason has come back to settle his late Aunt’s will and estate. Little did he or Lena know, Aunt Claudia has a trick up her sleeve 🙂 Will Lena be able to forgive Mason for leaving?? Will they be able to reconnect?? What happens when it is time for Mason to leave again and go back to his job?? Can these two finally find their HEA?? Read Easy Fortune to find out.

Easy Fortune is a standalone novella that is told in Dual POV and is a part of the Boudreaux Series. You don’t have to read any of the other books in this series to enjoy this book. You do see Mallory (from Easy Magic) in this story, because she is Lena’s BFF and Lena leans on her quite a bit for advice. But it is not necessary to read that book before reading this novella.

I can’t stress it enough that if you haven’t read this series yet, then don’t wait…jump on in and enjoy the ride!! This series is fantastic. The stories are engaging, fun, sexy and sweet. You will just fall in love with this family and their friends.

I wipe the back of my hand over my forehead and glance at my notes when suddenly, the air in the room shifts.

It’s subtle, but I feel it. The hair stands up on my neck. I haven’t felt this in six years.

“You can get back in your Ferrari and go away,” I say casually without looking over at the doorway and do my best to ignore the damn zoo that’s come awake in my stomach.

“I don’t have a Ferrari,” he replies. His voice hasn’t changed at all. It’s thick like melted milk chocolate, and he still has his southern accent. I don’t know why that surprises me.

“Well, whatever horse you rode in on? Ride back out on it.”

I hear him sigh, but I refuse to look at him. Because just one look will suck me in, and I’ve vowed never to be sucked in by Mason Coulter ever again.

“It’s good to see you, Lena.”

“Mm hmm.” I pretend to study my notes, but I don’t actually see the words anymore. “Good to see you, too.”

“You haven’t even looked over here.”

I can hear the smile in his voice. It makes me cringe.

“What do you want?”

“I want you to look at me,” he replies.

“Well, we don’t always get what we want.” Yes, I’m being a bitch, and no, I’m not sorry. Mason was the one. The one that I fell head over heels for, the one that charmed the pants off of me, literally, and then he just left. He disappeared, and I was left here, wondering what in the hell happened. Wondering what I did wrong because I was twenty-two and naïve and so heartsick for him I thought I wouldn’t survive it.

But I did.

“So, you’re still mad?”

I blink rapidly for a second, and then I can’t help it. I turn and take him in, from the top of his gorgeous, dark head to the tip of his designer shoes, and my body immediately comes to life. Panties are singed. And if I thought it was hot in here ten minutes ago, it’s an inferno now.

Damn him. He just had to stay hot, didn’t he? I mean, couldn’t he have lost all of his hair? Gained a whole bunch of weight? Something?

“You could say I’m still mad,” I reply, proud of myself for sounding calm and indifferent to him, when I’m anything but indifferent. “So unless you came in here to tell me you have a terminal illness, you can just turn around and go. I’m not interested in chit chat.”

“You were always good at chit chat,” he says and flashes that perfect smile at me. But there’s something there, in his smile that tells me something isn’t quite right.

And I’m just a sucker because I’m about to ask him what it is. I should stay firm and ask him to go.

But first, I need to settle an old score.

“You know,” I begin and put the cap on the blue marker. I set it down and turn to fully face him. “The last time I saw you, you said you’d be right back.”

“I said I’d see you soon,” he says, the smile fully leaving his face now.

“And then you just bailed.”

He sighs and leans against the doorjamb. He crosses his arms over his chest and glances down at his shoes, then back up at me. “I owe you an apology for that.”

“Yeah. You do.”

“I’m sorry.” His grey eyes are holding my own, and I can see the sincerity there, hear it in his voice. “I am truly sorry, Lena.”

I nod and turn away. “Thanks.”

“And I need your help.”

Of course he does.

This couldn’t be a quick, I want to stop in to see how you are, apologize, and go on my merry way.

No, it has to be complicated.

“My Aunt Claudia passed away last week.”

“Oh, Mason.” I turn quickly, blinking rapidly. I’m so sorry. I liked her very much.”

He nods. “Thank you.”

Mason and his Aunt Claudia were very close. I believe that we all have that one special family member that we bond with, who is important in our lives, and for him, it was his aunt. He spent summers with her here in New Orleans when he was young.

“I hadn’t heard that she’d passed.” That must be what I see behind his eyes. I don’t have the psychic abilities that my best friend, Mallory, has. But I can sense things. I want to hug him, to comfort him, but I stay planted where I am because I know what his touch will do to me.

“I’d planned to come to town and quickly take care of her estate, but it seems Aunt Claudia had other plans.” He laughs humorlessly and shakes his head, looking at the ceiling. “The attorney informed me that she was very clear that you were to come with me to the reading of the will.”

“Me?” I frown. “Why? I only met her a couple of times.”

He shrugs and pushes his hand through his hair, in the say way he did six years ago. But now the muscles under his black T-shirt are more defined, tanner from all of the hours he spends outside digging around for old things.

Mason is a well-known and important archeologist.

“You know that she was a bit… eccentric.” He smiles. “It’s one of the reasons I loved her so much. She did what she wanted, and she wanted this.”

“I see.” I swallow and stare out of the windows at the trees. There’s a slight breeze today. I walk over and open the window, wiggle my fingers and feel the breeze blow in my room. “And if I refuse?”

“If you refuse, her estate will be donated to the city of New Orleans.” My head whips around to stare at him again. “I know, it’s a lot of pressure. I don’t need her money, Lena. Archeology has been good to me. But I loved her, and I’d like to do right by her.”

I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. So, he’s not here because he wanted to see me. He’s here because his aunt didn’t give him a choice. He’s right, it is a lot of pressure.

“You can think about it,” he says. He pulls a business card from his pocket and sets it on the desk closest to him. “That’s my cell number. I need to be at the attorney’s office on Friday at 2:00 in the afternoon. If you decide you’re willing to go with me, I wrote the address on the back.”

I nod, staring at the small square of white paper.

“Yeah?” My gaze finds his again and he smiles, as if remembering something especially sweet.

“You look fantastic. You’ve hardly changed at all.”

“Oh, I’ve changed.”

My eyes swung over to look at my mother standing there with my aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.

“Shit,” I whispered.

“Oh God. This is not happening. This is it!” Gabi exclaimed as she covered her mouth.

I placed my hands on her shoulders and leaned in closer. In a whispered voice, I asked, “What is wrong?”

Her eyes met mine. “This is her challenge! I thought it was that day in the bakery. That was a merely a test! She’s here to take me down!”

I laughed. “My mother is not here to take you down.”

She slowly shook her head and asked, “How did she know?”

Then we both turned to look at Liza. She took a step away. “You didn’t.”

Liza’s eyes were everywhere. Me, my mother, back to Gabi, back to my mother. “I might have mentioned it that day in the bakery when she was there. But she saw the registration form and asked if you had entered! I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to say.”

“Nicholaus, don’t be rude. Introduce your Gabriella to your Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”

Gabi took in a slow deep breath before turning and facing my mother and aunts.

With my hand on her back, we walked closer. “Mama, this is a surprise to see you here.”

She looked taken aback. “Why? I love to cook, this is a cooking competition. Why wouldn’t I be here?”

“Because you’ve never entered one before.”

The three of them laughed. “Please. Your mama has won more cooking competitions than anyone in this room.”

Gabi swayed, and I tightened my grip on her.

When my mother turned to look at Gabi, she wore a wide smile. “So, with you being a part of our family, I want to make sure you come in second so I’ve brought you some help.”

Oh for shits sake.

“Help?” Gabi asked with a strained voice.

And before our eyes appeared my cousins Sophia and Angie, and just when I didn’t think it could get worse, cousin Maria walked up carrying a giant bag with some rat looking dog in it.

“Um, I don’t think you can have a dog in here,” Liza said.

Everyone turned and looked at cousin Maria. “Are you shitting me? I don’t go anywhere without my Nikky.”

“Gabriella, this is Aunt Maria and Aunt Agnes.”

Gabi reached her hand out to theirs.

“Ahh! You made it!” my mother called out as her best friend came walking up. I couldn’t help but groan.

“Gabriella, this is my very dear friend, Maria.”

I didn’t think Gabi could look any more confused. “Oh, um, another Maria! That’s a lot of Maria’s under one roof.” They all stared at her like they didn’t get it.

They fucking got it.

“All right, well now that the gang is here, Mama you should be heading on over to your station.”

“You’re not coming over there with me?”

Gabi’s head jerked to the side to look at me. Oh shit. What the hell do I do?

I did the only thing I knew to do. I looked for guidance from Liza. My eyes were wide as she motioned to Gabi.

Right. Right. I needed to stay with Gabi.

“Well, Mama, I was planning on helping Gabi and being here for moral support with this being her first competition and all.” Gabi glared at me.

Shit, what did I do now?

Then my mother turned back to Gabi. “First, huh?” My heart dropped in my chest. That’s why Gabi shot me a dirty look. “Well, I better let you get going then. Good luck.”

With a full-on smile, Gabi nodded. “Thanks! You too. And may the best cook win.”

Tossing her head back and laughing before looking back at Gabi, my mother said, “Oh, I will.”

~ 5 Italian Stars ~

Kelly Elliott has outdone herself with this book. I think this might just be my favorite book of hers to date!! and that is saying something since I have loved every single one of her books.

There was something about Only With Me that just sucked me in. I felt all the emotions the characters felt and I wanted to a part of their story. I absolutely LOVED the craziness of Nic’s Greek family, but I also loved how it didn’t intimidate Gabi…she knew how to stand up to his mom and his grandma. I want to be a part of Nic’s family 🙂

Only With Me is a standalone novel told in Dual POV. It is a fun and entertaining read, but had a hidden element of suspense to it. You know Gabi has a secret from the beginning, but you don’t know what it is and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough until I got my answers. This book will also touch on all of your emotions. I was laughing out loud at many times in the story, but I also cried and almost through my kindle in anger. And don’t worry you will absolutely swoon when you meet Nic. Boy he can talk Greek to me any day. My panties melted on many occasions 😉 Make sure you have a fan and ice water next to you when you read this book.

This book can be read by itself but my recommendation is that you should read Stay With Me first. I think it will help you understand the characters of this story better as well as understanding Nic’s family better. But you can still read this one alone, you won’t be lost and the storylines are completely separate. Trust me when I say you are going to want to read both of these books, because they are truly amazing!!!!

Only With Me is a fairly quick read but nothing was too rushed. There isn’t a whole lot of excess drama, but just enough to keep your interest. She also added a suspenseful element to this story so you kept turning the pages to see how it all worked out. I will warn you that if you aren’t an insta-love story person, then you may want to pass on this book. Nic and Gabi’s love story happens fairly quickly. I loved it and thought it worked perfectly for this couple, but I know there are readers out there who really don’t like that style of story. I thought the pace and flow of the story were spot on. I also loved that not only did she give us the greek heritage again, but she gave us a little bit of the Italian heritage as well. It was a fun mixture 🙂

I loved how much Thano and Kilyn played a part in this book. It was great to see this couple a couple of years after their story (Stay With Me) I also loved that we got to know Thad and Phoebe better in this story. I also loved the new characters she introduced to us. Charity (Gabi’s BFF) and Cole (Nic’s BFF). I loved where she took these characters. You are going to want to meet them too. They all added the comic relief to this story.

If you are looking for a book that is fun, sexy, features a sexy Greek God, and a crazy greek family, then you’ll want to read Only With Me. But if you are already a fan of Kelly Elliott’s then you don’t want to miss this book. She gave us another great love story with characters that just melted my heart.

only-with-me_smashLife was great.

I loved my bachelor life and working my dream job with the Colorado Springs SWAT team.

That all changed the day I stepped into her bakery. Her smile swept me off my feet, and her panna cotta was heaven.

Cue my very traditional Greek family.

Then all hell broke loose.

The woman I was falling in love with was Italian, and my mother was hell-bent on proving to the world she was the better cook.

If my meddling family wasn’t bad enough, for the last six years Gabi had been on the run from a past she tried desperately to escape from.

Between a beautiful woman on the run, and a crazy family constantly in my business, would I be able to show her I’m the only one who can keep her safe … or will her past steal her away from me?

A feisty beauty must choose between
winning back Mr. Right

or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Oxford Series #4

Lauren Layne

Releasing June 13, 2017

New York City’s hottest bachelors are stirring up trouble in this fun, flirty Oxford Novel, as a love triangle forces a feisty beauty to choose between winning back Mr. Right or giving in to Mr. Wrong.

Taylor Carr has it all—a sleek job in advertising, a stunning Manhattan apartment, and the perfect man to share it with: Bradley Calloway. Even after Bradley dumps her for a co-worker on move-in day, Taylor isn’t worried. She’ll get her man eventually. In the meantime, she needs a new roommate. Enter Nick Ballantine, career bartender, freelance writer—and longtime pain in Taylor’s ass. Sexy in a permanent five-o’clock-shadow kind of way, Nick knows how to push Taylor’s buttons, as if he could see right through to the real her.

Nick’s always trying to fix people, and nobody could use a good fixing more than Taylor. Sure, she’s gorgeous, with mesmerizing silver eyes, but it’s her vulnerability that kills him. Now that they’re shacking up together, the chemistry is out of control. Soon they’re putting every part of their two-bedroom apartment to good use. Then Taylor’s ex comes crawling back to her, and Nick figures she’ll jump at the chance to go back to her old life—unless he fights for the best thing that ever happened to him.

Bradley froze when he saw her, and she was pretty sure she saw the urge to turn and run flicker across his face.

Again she felt a stab of disappointment. In him. And in herself for apparently having misread him. She’d thought he was better than this.

Bradley’s eyes moved between her and Nick, and though he didn’t look all that surprised at seeing them bickering, his gaze grew hard as he saw Nick’s hand on Taylor’s face.

Nick, naturally, took his sweet time removing it, and she resisted the urge to kick his shin.

“Morning, Bradley,” Taylor said, pleased that her voice sounded calm and friendly. As well it should. She’d had plenty of practice over the better part of a year pretending that she and Bradley were nothing more than colleagues.

Other than a few close friends who knew they were dating, they’d done a mostly decent job of hiding their romantic relationship from coworkers. Better than she and Nick had done hiding their antagonistic one.

“Hey, Taylor. Nick,” Bradley said.

He entered the room and reached for a coffee mug, turning his attention toward the other man. “Didn’t realize you’d taken on another assignment. What for?”

“Not sure,” Nick said, checking his watch. “Have a meeting with Cassidy in a few to find out.”

“Here’s hoping it’s an offsite gig that takes you far, far away. Maybe he needs someone to cover Siberian winters,” Taylor said to Nick, even as she watched Bradley out of the corner of her eye.

“Don’t need to travel to find severe winter. It doesn’t get any chillier than right here,” Nick retorted, waving his hand over her head in a storm cloud gesture.

She shoved his hand aside, her attention still on Bradley, who was determinedly avoiding her gaze.

It was going to be darn hard to get him to see reason when he wouldn’t even make eye contact.

Nick, ever too perceptive for his own good, noticed the tension and gave a quick look between her and Bradley, his gaze turning speculative.

She shot him a warning look that clearly said, Dont.

He shot an answering smile that clearly said, Watch me.

“Bradley, don’t suppose you’re in the market for a roommate?” Nick asked, his voice deceptively casual.

Bradley’s head snapped up, and finally, finally his blue gaze collided with Taylor’s. Dammit. Why did he have to be so beautiful? He was like a mischievous angel, all twinkling blue eyes, dimples, a sexy cleft in his chin, dark blond wavy hair . . .

“What?” he asked Nick distractedly, still looking at Taylor.

“Taylor here wants to share her original crown molding with someone.”

Bradley winced, and Taylor felt a little surge of gratitude toward Nick. He couldn’t have known it, but it was the perfect jab. She and Bradley were both into prewar architecture—had eaten up the broker’s description of all the building’s original elements.

Taylor should be sharing that crown molding with Bradley. And he damn well knew it.

His eyes met hers in silent misery—an apology that she wasn’t quite ready to accept. Heck, she wasn’t even ready to acknowledge it, because she had no intention of being dumped. Not by him, not by any man.

Taylor ignored the guilt written all over Bradley’s face as she held his gaze. “Yes, it seems I unexpectedly have a free bedroom and more rent than I can afford. If either of you knows anyone looking for a roommate . . .”

Bradley’s handsome face twisted regretfully, and he set his coffee aside, taking a step toward her, apparently forgetting—or not caring—that Nick was still in the room.

“Taylor. Damn it. I told you—”

“Actually, I do,” Nick said, interrupting.

Taylor forced her gaze away from Bradley’s pleading face toward Nick’s smug one. “You know someone who needs a roommate?”

“Yup.” He crossed his arms and watched her.

She made an impatient gesture with her hand. “Who? It can’t be one of your ex-girlfriends—I don’t want to inadvertently hear any gross details about you. And not one of your frat-boy guy friends—my living room isn’t cut out for Call of Duty.”

“Yeah, because that’s all I do all day.”

She rolled her eyes. “Okay, for real, who is it?”

His grin was slow, sly, and the very definition of trouble. “Me.”
