Out of the past six years of my life, I only remember about half of it. After a dozen doctors and thousands in medical bills, I was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder–one that causes me to lose track of time. Sometimes it’s hours, days or even weeks with no recollection of anything. The good thing is it’s been almost two years since I had my last ‘black out’. It sounds much better than what the doctors refer to them as, ‘episodes’, like my life is a freakin’ comedy.
During those two years of normal, I finally managed to get my Bachelor’s degree, a job I love, and I’ve just proposed to a woman who has been there for me through it all. For the first time in a long time everything is on track.
Until a strange woman shows up at my door—she says I’m her husband and I think she’s crazy. Until, I get a voice mail on my phone. It’s from a guy name Cal. The weird part is, it’s the same name the strange woman called me. What terrifies me, is this guy Cal…his voice sounds just like mine.

I totally fell in love with If I break when I read it a few months ago. So, when I got the chance to get a little bit of Chris’ POV, I was ecstatic. Now, we all know I am a bad boy junky, but Chris started to win me over in Before I Break…just a little 😉 But, I will be honest and say that I did wish it was Cal’s POV. Although, I am just happy to have a male POV for this story 🙂
“I can’t be who she wants me to be but I’ll be the best man that I can, that, I know how to be…”
Before I Break is a companion novella and you HAVE to read If I Break before reading it. It’s a must, not a recommendation. Before I Break is pretty much a continuation and different POV of If I Break. And it’s quick, so this review will not be very long. About all you need to know is that Chris’ world has been rocked, and I am interested to see where he goes from here. Two women, a wife, a fiance’, a daughter, and a lot of unknown…I can’t even imagine the turmoil going on within him.
“I replay the message again and again. My hands won’t stop shaking. The scary part is, this is the second time today I’ve heard the name Cal. But, what terrifies me is the voice in the message is mine.”
But, the guy is dealing with it, and in the best way he can, in my opinion. He has such a caring heart, and sweet side to him. I really enjoyed being in his head and finding out how he feels about where his world is now. Just like in If I Break, this novella flows well and it was over way before I was ready. It felt like a tease to me and I am ready for so much more of this very addicting story. Happy Reading!!!
