Worth the Risk
The McKinney Brothers # 2
By: Claudia Connor
Releasing Feb 3rd, 2015
When a McKinney brother falls in love, powerful emotion and overwhelming desire are never far behind.
Two hearts locked away . . . Hannah Walker spends her days coaching children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback ride at a time. She knows all too well how violence can change a child and leave scars that never heal. It’s easy for her to relate to the kids; what isn’t easy is the thought of facing her own harrowing past.
Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little coaching himself. Five years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare—and the nightmare won. No matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful night . . . or so he believes.
Both desperate for a second chance . . . Stephen is used to getting what he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down, he’s intrigued. What he doesn’t know is that her secrets will lead him to a place he never wanted to go again . . . to a side of himself he’s tried to forget . . . a side that would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his only chance to win her trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried so hard to protect.

~ 5 Stars ~
Claudia Connor has done it…. She has given us a book that is even better than the first. (and that’s saying something since I really enjoyed Worth the Fall)
Worth the Risk was so different from book 1. It was a bit on the darker side of a romance book. The pasts of the characters were so tragic and even slightly disturbing to read. (Some of it I had a real hard time reading….that’s how sad and horrible the events were 🙁 ) But what the moral of this story was, was heartwarming and showed that two people can truly heal and find love again when they least expect it. Claudia was able to create an interesting storyline and characters that just sucked you in. Once I started this book I had a really hard time putting it down. The flow of the story was excellent….it never felt rushed or too slow. I also loved how she incorporated the characters from Book 1 into this story as well, including the adorable kids…especially Gracie 😉
In this book we follow the story of Stephen and Hannah. Both of these characters are extremely broken on the inside. Both had some tragic and horrible event happen in the past that has shaped who they are now. Hannah and Stephen meet each other in an unexpected run in at the grocery store. Stephen sees Hannah in the aisle crying and approaches her. They talk and Stephen decides to ask Hannah out to dinner. Hannah says No at first but is slowly talked into it. Over the course of the story Hannah and Stephen grow closer and learn to open up to each other. Now it isn’t all smooth sailing from the beginning. Stephen was kind of a jerk in the beginning and Hannah was hurt and pulled away. Over the course of the book Stephen definitely grew on me…once he realized how good Hannah was for him.
Now let me just say this book was so much more than two broken people finding love and learning to heal and trust again. Claudia also added in some suspense and mystery to the storyline, which had me trying to guess how things were going to work themselves out. This book really did have a little bit of everything I look for in a 5 star read and I truly believe this is a book EVERYONE should read!!! I know it is one I will read again in the future.
I am looking forward to more books in this series and from this author. I am hoping that Hannah’s brothers will also get a series in the future. I think Nick’s story would be a good one.
