Title: Uncovered by Truth

Series: Lies and Truth Duet #2

Author: Rachael Duncan

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 17, 2015

My life has been full of uncertainties. Little did I know the biggest one would come in the form of a green-eyed beauty. She came into my life and flipped everything on its end and now things are more messed up than ever before.

Being former Special Forces, I’m no stranger to fighting, but this is different. This is personal. The stakes feel much higher and the struggle to save her will be my most challenging mission yet.

But I have a secret. A secret that threatens to tear apart everything we’ve built. I just hope she can overlook them when all is revealed.

You know me as Alex Matthews.

My mistake was getting involved with her, knowing what was on the line.

Their mistake was taking me away from her.

“Oh my God, Alex. They’re going to kill us, aren’t they?” Her lip quivers as she grabs onto my arm.

I grab both of her shoulders and stare into her eyes. “No, they’re not. We’re going to stay right here and we’ll be fine, okay?”

“But they’re going to come in after us. We need to leave.” Her voice rises with urgency and I know I need to calm her down before she does something stupid out of fear.

“Good. Let them come in after us. We know they’re out there. They’re not expecting us to be ready for them. We know the layout of this cabin. They don’t. We’re going to position ourselves in a way that makes it impossible for them to surprise us. In here, we have the advantage.”

4 “I thought you were dead” stars!

I have been anxiously awaiting Uncovered by Truth, ever since finishing Hidden in Lies. The ending to Hidden in Lies left me destroyed. But, I was optimistic that there had to be better times coming. Patience, right?!?!

“Each minute I’m not with her kills me. Being able to hold her and make sure she’s safe is all I can think about.”

Elizabeth and Alex’s story at first was a little off to me, but by the end of Hidden in Lies, I was on their team. So, when starting Uncovered by Truth I was a tad nervous and crossing my fingers that things worked out for all. By that I also mean that Elizabeth’s cruel husband gets what he deserves. But the secrets could be the one thing that will break Elizabeth and Alex.

“You have things you can’t talk about, and I have mine.”

The direction that Uncovered by Truth headed really surprised me, but in a good way and I enjoyed it. It was stressful and heart wrenching at times, but yet didn’t drag my emotions through the ringer as much as it could have. The author gave me a good mix of emotions with the steamy, romantic, and highly stressful scenes. Things are not all easy for Alex and Elizabeth, but the two are strong and I kept the belief that all things would work out for the best.

“I have her best interest at heart, but she might not see it that way when everything comes to light.”

The ending actually made me giggle, though 🙂 This duet is a quick, smooth, and easy read that keeps you engaged with all the unknowns, and I recommend you all give it a read.
