Born into wealth and privilege, free-spirited Liv Quinn left it all behind when she realized there was more to life than living off of trust funds and barely skating by.  Since then, she’s worked and fought for everything she’s earned and never looked back at the world or the family she left behind.

Jackson Reid is starting over with a new job in a brand new city.  A single father to his son Noah, he hopes the change will help strengthen the bond that has seemed to suffer since puberty reared its ugly head.  What he hadn’t planned on was Liv—his exotic next-door neighbor who drives him insane with her wild, new age lifestyle, but still manages to leave him aching for more.

As challenges arise and feelings intensify, will these neighbors be able to look past their differences and find a middle ground?  When love comes knocking, will they be ready, or not?

~~ 5 Stars ~~

Ready or Not is the 4th and final book in J.L. Berg’s Ready Series.  I absolutely LOVE this series.  Each of the books have been wonderful.  I thought this book was slightly different from the other 3 books, in that it wasn’t as emotional as the other ones.  This one had more humor written into the storyline.  I thought this book was the perfect mix of humor, romance, steam and even drama.  I guess you could consider this book a standalone, because J.L. does a great job filling in the blanks when needed, but I truly feel that this is a series that needs to be read in order, so you get the full effect and connection of the characters.  Because each couple plays such a big part in each others lives.  They truly are interconnected.  As always, I thought the writing of this book was flawless.  J.L. Berg’s writing is always smooth and fast paced.  She never rushes anything but the storyline is so effortless that it just flows along and makes it hard to put down.  I will say that this book seriously had me laughing out loud so many times.  I loved the banter that the author created between Liv, Jackson and Noah.  But actually all the characters added their own comic relief to the story.  What I love the most about J.L.’s books, is that they are truly a feel good fairytale type love story.  Yes she adds a little drama to keep the story interesting, but it is always short lived and never the main focus of the story.  She also creates stories and characters that are relatable and believable.  It is almost impossible not to connect to her characters, their personalities suck you in and wish you were a part of their circle of friends.

In this book the focus is on Liv, Jackson and Noah (Jackson’s 11 yr old son).  We met Liv in Ready For You (Book 3)  She is the best friend of Mia.  Liv is a free spirit who loves life and has built a good life for herself after her parents abandoned her.  I loved Liv when we met her in book 3 and I loved her in this book.  She was a sassy but lovable character.  Don’t get me wrong she was slightly broken because she didn’t feel she deserved love or that she would ever be loved.  This stemmed from her childhood.  Well that all changed when she met her new next door neighbor Jackson and his son Noah.  Jackson is a single dad, who is just trying to provide the best life for his son.  So he moved them to a new town and started a new job.  Noah was a lost young man.  His mom left when he was an infant and now his dad changed everything again on him by moving.  Jackson is concerned about Noah and takes him to a therapist….Liv!!!  Liv doesn’t know that Jackson is her new neighbor.  These two characters were great together.  I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll say you need to read this story to see the connection Liv and Jackson have.  I will just say that things in the beginning weren’t smooth sailing, but it had me laughing so hard at times.  Now don’t get me wrong, Jackson was also a swoon worthy guy.  He knew how to melt a pair of panties when he needed to 😉

I thought this was an excellent ending to this series.  I am going to be sad to see these characters go.  I loved that J.L. Berg included all of the past characters into this story so we got to keep up with what was happening with them.  The love and friendships in this series were just amazing.  This is a series I will reread many more times in the future.

I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who is looking for that emotional story that isn’t loaded down with excess drama, but one that will leave you with a huge smile on your face.  Pick up this book, you won’t be sorry!!!!
