~~ 5 “Questions Answered” Stars ~~
Talk about a roller coaster of emotions, angst, drama, love and suspense. This book has it all and it doesn’t stop until the end. Lies Beneath the Surface is the second book in the Buried Secrets Series by Silla Webb. This book is a continuation of Covered in Coal and is to be read ONLY AFTER you read book 1. This is NOT a standalone book.
I will warn you that I don’t plan on talking about the storyline too much because pretty much anything that I would say would be a HUGE spoiler!!!! This book does start up right where Covered in Coal ended. This book will definitely pull at your heartstrings and also test your patience. We were left with a TON of questions after Covered in Coal and rest assured….you are given the answers in this book. This book/series is all about the secrets people hide over time and how they can come back and bite you in the butt in the long run. I loved that this book was so unpredictable. There were some things that I saw coming but I have to say that Silla Webb kept me guessing throughout the majority of this book.
I am having such a hard time writing this review because I don’t want to give anything away. I will say that I truly enjoy Silla’s writing style. I loved that she captures the true feeling of being in Kentucky by using the grammar and dialect that is used in the south. I thought this book was wonderfully written. We got multiple POV’s in this story. I thought it was great to see what Colton, Carly Jo, and Savannah (Carly Jo’s sister) thought and felt. We learned so much more about Savannah in this book, my heart broke so many times for her and her situation. My only complaint with this book was that by having this as a multiple POV book, we got some repetitive stuff. There were situations that were repeated by different characters that I thought could’ve been left out so that the flow of the story wasn’t slowed down. Obviously that didn’t deter from my complete enjoyment of this book.
I’m wrapping up my review by just saying READ THIS BOOK/SERIES!!! You won’t be sorry. Just an FYI….this book does NOT end on a cliffhanger. We are given a complete story. I did see at the end that there will be two more books to this series and I am excited to see who they will be about. I have my suspicions, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see 😉

did she have a natural love for reading and reviewing, but she found that lost
love of writing that she once had as a young girl.
