HEAT: Club Inferno
Loveswept Contemporary Romance
Written by Jamie K. Schmidt
Releasing, June 3, 2014
Style and seduction collide in Jamie K. Schmidt’s Heat—sure to please fans of Fifty Shades of Grey—as the world’s best-dressed men and women shed their clothing . . . and their inhibitions.
On the run from her abusive fiancé, ER doctor Mallory Bryant arrives at her sister’s Connecticut resort desperate for a place to restore balance to her life. But Club Inferno is more than a haven for the rich and fashionable. Beneath its elegant facade is an erotic playground where dominants and submissives play out their fantasies. At first, Mallory is wary of Max Spencer, the martial arts trainer acting as her bodyguard—until he introduces her to passion so intense she wants nothing more than to surrender to his touch.
As one of Couture’s most skilled doms, Max enjoys taking Mallory to the limits of pleasure. It’s a dangerous proposition, and as their sensual games draw them into a relationship beyond the boundaries of pupil and master, Max starts spiraling out of control. But when Mallory’s violent past catches up with her, Max knows what he must do: draw her closer than ever before, even if it means risking a surrender of his own.

~~ 4 “Inferno” Stars ~~
This was my first Jamie K. Schmidt book and I can say it won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I didn’t really know what to expect from this book, but I was completely intrigued by the blurb. I will admit I am not a huge fan of the BDSM style book, so I was a little nervous going into it, but I also wanted to read something outside my comfort zone. I have to say that when it comes to the BDSM lifestyle this book is on the mild side. There was some Dom/sub type stuff with some bondage and spanking but nothing really stronger then that. I was surprised that from what some of the reviews were stating that there was more sex in this story. Now don’t get me wrong there was sex and steamy scenes, I mean the story is based in a sex club, but really the sex between the two main characters didn’t happen until later in the book. But once that did happen, hold on to your panties and grab a fan….things got pretty HOT!!!!
I really did enjoy this book. I thought the storyline was interesting enough to keep me intrigued all the way through. The author added just enough angst and drama to keep you turning the pages. I thought the characters and storyline were developed well and also moved along smoothly. This book was actually a quick read for me. I didn’t feel anything was missing or passed over.
Max and Mallory were relatable characters. Mallory was an ER doctor who had just left her abusive boyfriend and is now staying with her estranged sister at her exclusive resort called Couture. This resort had multiple facets to it. During this time she meets Max who was a MMA trainer and also a “rope” enthusiast in the sex club. Mallory’s sister Colleen asked Max to watch over Mallory and show her the ropes 😉 From here starts their journey together. I liked the pace of the relationship these two took. They were attracted right away but took their time exploring each other. Both characters were slightly broken. Come to find out they had more in common then they thought. Mallory was in an abusive relationship with a drug addict and Max comes from a family were his mom was abused by his dad who was an alcoholic. Max and his siblings also suffered by the hands of the father. My heart truly broke for Max while reading this story. I loved watching both Max and Mallory grow as the story continued. They both learned to let go of the past and become stronger people because of it.
If you are looking for a steamy love story, that is a standalone with a HEA and some light BDSM, then this is the book for you. I think this book was worth the read.
