Wingman rule number two: never reveal how much you want them.
Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.
But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away.
Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.

What happens when your sworn enemy turns out to be the love of your life? Well you need to read The Matchmaker’s Replacement to find out!!!
The Matchmaker’s Replacement is the second book in Rachel Van Dyken’s Wingmen Inc. Series. This is an Enemies to Lovers type story with a hint of a forbidden romance as well. This book is a standalone novel, but I would recommend reading The Matchmaker’s Playbook (Book 1) first just because the characters interconnect and the storyline kind of over laps. Each book have a completed storyline with the main couple but what the storyline is about…a dating service….carries over into the second book.
I have read many books now by Rachel Van Dyken and I have to say her writing just keeps getting better and better with each new book I read by her. This book was GREAT!!! I absolutely loved this book and series. This story was filled with lots of laughter, angst, witty banter and some seriously steamy scenes 😉 What I loved the most about both of theses books in this series, is that they aren’t overloaded with a lot of drama. We really don’t see many of the typical things we see in a New Adult College based story. It is really refreshing. Rachel wrote this book is Dual POV and I thought that was great. I enjoy getting into the minds of both characters. I love Rachel’s writing style….her books always suck me in!!!
In this book, we follow the journey of sworn enemies, Gabi and Lex. Gabi is the Best Friend of Ian (from book 1). She is almost like a sister to him, so Ian is very protective of her. Lex is also the Best Friend and Business Partner of Ian. Lex is a well known man-whore. So you can guess that Ian has forbidden Lex from ever dating Gabi. Gabi and Lex also have a history that dates back to childhood, but also 4 years earlier when Gabi is only 18 years old and crushing on Lex. When Lex rejects Gabi back then, she has sworn to never open her heart to him again and to hate him. Lex is also of the same mind, in that if he can’t be with Gabi…he is going to hate her!! This starts a verbal war between them. I have to say their banter had me laughing out loud so many times, my husband thought I was crazy 🙂 What’s even funnier is that Ian has hired Gabi to work at Wingmen Inc and Lex has to train her. This starts a firestorm of emotions for both of them. I loved reading their journey and watching these two find love when and where they least expected it. They always say there is a fine line between love and hate 😉
I loved that we got to see more of Blake and Ian in this book and that the epilogue really finished out both couples stories.
So if you are a fan of romantic Comedies and are looking for that book to lighten your mood….Pick up this series. You are guaranteed to laugh. You also don’t want to miss this book if you are a fan of the enemies to lovers story….this is probably one of my favorites of all time. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Rachel’s work yet…this is the PERFECT series to start with.
