Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.
Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.
Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

~ 5 City Girl to Rustic Girl Stars ~
Well Sawyer Bennett has another great series on her hand!!
Sex In the Sticks is the first book in her newest standalone novel series. This was a great start. I loved the storyline and the characters. This book was fairly predictable but still amazingly enjoyable. It made me laugh, swoon, yell and fall in love.
This isn’t filled with a lot of drama, just enough to keep you interest piqued and the reader turning the pages. This is a fairly quick read, but I thought it was the perfect length and that the pace and flow were spot on. Everything you come to expect from a Sawyer Bennett story.
I have to be honest and say that this is one of my favorite books by Sawyer Bennett. I don’t really know why, there was just something about this book that I really loved. Maybe it was the characters, maybe it was the storyline, or maybe it was the setting in which this story takes place, but put all together it was a really fantastic read.
To be honest I was a little nervous about how much I was going to like Valentine (h) because I was afraid she was going to come off as snobby and rich and entitled, but I am happy to say she was none of those things. Once she left her native city of New York City and was placed in a small quaint town of East Merritt Alaska, she was a fun, sassy, and down to earth girl. I thought that her and Logan fit well together. Logan was the towns Chief of Police and your rustic man, who you just swoon over. He also had quite the dirty mouth 😉 Melt your panties dirty!!!
I loved that Sawyer took these two slowly, but the attraction was instant. It was fun and entertaining to watch their friendship blossom. I also enjoyed watching Valentine’s eye open up too new things and to the possibility of love just by hanging out with Logan. Now not everyone was so welcoming to Valentine and her loud personality. This is where some of the drama was added to spice up the story, but everything was short lived and I loved how Valentine handled things (Darla). There was also a small secret that Valentine was keeping to herself about what she did for a job. What will happen when Logan finds out?? Can he look past her initial intentions of why she came to Alaska?? Can these two completely different people make it work and get the HEA they both deserve?? Read this fun and entertaining book to find out.
If you are a fan of Sawyer Bennett’s books, you don’t want to miss this gem of a story. I think she truly has written on of her best romance stories with this one. If you have never read a book by her, then Sex in the Sticks is a great place to start. Once you start reading her books you will be come addicted to her writing just as I am!!!!
Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
