~ 3.5 Stars ~
Ok so I’ll be honest….the cover and blurb are what drew me in to reading Hotshot. I have never read a book by Ahren Sanders before. I am glad I picked up this book and new author.
I enjoyed this book, but I didn’t love it. I think my biggest negative that held back from really loving this book, was it’s length and there was a lot of over the top drama. I personally think some of that could’ve been left out and I think then I would’ve loved this story. Honestly this book wasn’t what I was expecting. I went in thinking the storyline was going to be going in one direction, after reading the blurb, but it went somewhere completely different. Not that, that is a bad thing, just took me by surprise.
I did really enjoy the characters we were introduced to in this book. The Bennett family was amazing and I loved Claire (Bizzy’s BFF) but what would a book be without the characters we love to hate. Ahren gave us that in spades. (Sasha and her parents) I also enjoyed the storyline, it’s one that I have read before, but Ahren was still able to add her special touch, so that it wasn’t like every other book out there. I liked the writing style and I thought the pace and flow worked well with this book. I just think she overloaded the story with too much and that is what slowed the book down for me.
In Hotshot we follow the story of a girl….Bizzy and three brothers….The Bennett Boys….who have been lifelong friends. Bizzy connected with the youngest sibling because they share a common situation, but it is the oldest sibling…. Shaw…..that caught her eye. Over the course of the next ten years Bizzy and the Bennetts become extremely close. But it is the hidden feelings between Bizzy and Shaw that spark a blaze when they are finally revealed. This is a friends to lovers story with NO love triangle!!! Shaw and Bizzy have a lot of different hills and mountains to climb to get their HEA. Will these two be able stand the test of time and come out better on the other side??? Read Hotshot to find out.
I have to say I believe the reader that will truly love this book is someone who loves a lot of drama and angst in their stories. This book was just a little over the top for me. Just because it is a favorite of mine doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend the book and others may find this to be a 5 star read. So give it a try!!!!
