I have been staring at her for three months. Watching her. Memorizing her.
For ninety-two days, I’ve looked into those lifeless green eyes.
And for ninety-two days she has inspired me in ways I never knew possible. A muse, unbeknownst to her. Motivating me. Encouraging my darkest desires.
I’m a man who knows what he wants. And what I want is the beautiful and broken Holland Howard.
My name is Jensen Payne—photographer, autocrat, lecher, Scopophiliac. I am who I am and I will not—cannot—change.
*This is an Erotic Romance. Recommended for readers 18+ ONLY.
WARNING: This book contains possible emotional triggers.
HARD is a full-length stand-alone erotic romance novel (approximately 50,000 words).
“Take off your clothes.” My voice is gravelly and I hardly recognize it. I’ve imagined how she looks naked a million different times. Dreamt of this moment more than I can count. My hands circle around the device clutched in my grip, squeezing firmly.
One auburn brow arches as if in challenge, a silent remark to my lack of polite request. I mimic her, cocking my own brow, but give her nothing else. Manners don’t belong in the bedroom. This is who I am and I do not apologize for it.
I ask once—and only once. I offer a choice and they make their decision. After that, it’s my way. Anybody who doesn’t agree is free to leave. I don’t want her to go—I’ve waited far too long for this—but I am who I am and I will not—cannot—change.

~ 5 Stars ~
I have read a few books by Cheryl McIntrye and I have been a fan of hers ever since I read her first book. So when I saw Hard on Goodreads and read the blurb, I was instantly intrigued and knew that it was going to be an amazing book. I am so happy to say I was 100% correct. This book was phenomenal!!!! It was so unlike any book I have read lately.
This book is listed as an erotic story, and yes it is (The sex is off the charts), but it was so much more than that. There was a very serious storyline underneath all the sex. This was truly a heart wrenching story of loss, suffering, and pain, but also a journey to finding oneself again and finding love and happiness again.
This storyline was truly a unique one. I know I have never read a story based around scopophilia. Scopophilia is defined as the love of looking. I didn’t get where the author was going with that as a topic for this book, but as the story unfolded it all made sense. I truly believe Cheryl was made to be an author. She can capture the feelings of her characters so well. I always feel like I am a part of her characters lives and truly know how they are feeling. I know that when I pick up one of her books, that I won’t be able to put it down. As was the case with this book. This was a fairly quick read for me, but that was in part to the fact that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I didn’t want this story to end. I will warn you that this book will definitely pull at your heart strings. My heart broke for Holland so many times. I just wanted to reach into the book and give her a big hug. I loved watching her and Jensen develop a relationship when they didn’t even think that was what they wanted. I was so happy with how this book ended and where she took Jensen and Holland.
I honestly could go on and on about this book/story, but I think everyone should experience it for themselves. I truly believe this is a MUST READ book, pick this one up….you won’t be disappointed. If you are a fan of Cheryl McIntrye’s then you definitely don’t want to miss this book.
