~ 4 Stars ~
I have read many of Carly Phillips books and I am always glad when I finish them that I picked up the book to read. She is becoming one of my favorite/auto read authors.
What I love the most about her books is that they are fun, quick and easier type reads. They are never overloaded with excess drama. I also love the storylines she gives us and the characters she creates. We also can’t forget that Carly knows how to write some really steamy scenes 😉 I’ve said this before, but her books juts suck me in.
Going Down Fast is the second book in her Bad Boy Billionaire Series. This book is about Lucas and Maxie. Each of these books can be read as standalone novels, but with this series, since there are interconnected characters and we do see the characters from the first book, I would recommend reading them in order….to get the full effect of the people. I will say that this book wasn’t as good as the first one, but I still really enjoyed Lucas and Maxie’s story. It had humor, sex and suspense, but what I think it lacked was a little more drama between Lucas and Maxie. Things were a little too easy for them.
This book did surprise me though. After reading the blurb I was expecting this book to go in one direction, but I started it, I saw that it was going in a completely different direction. Not that, that is a bad thing.
One thing I have really loved about both of these books, is the underlying theme that each of the Heroes represent. Kaden’s book was about Mental Health and Lucas’s focused on Bullying and feeling left out or different. I think Carly does a fantastic job of writing about these topics with tact and not sensationalizing them. She gives a hard look of how it effects people and those around them.
Going Down Fast is a friends to lovers story. Lucas and Maxie have known each other since they were kids. Both having crushes on each other, but losing touch over the years. Now reunited….Maxie is down on her luck and turns to Lucas for help and help he does 🙂
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Carly Phillips or you like a really good friends to lovers story. As I said earlier, this was a fun, easy and quick read, but it will leave you feeling happy in the end.
