I chased, you pushed
I chased, you friend zoned
I chased, you fell
Now I chase to protect you.

You chased, I resisted
You chased, I accepted
You chased, I fell
Now I pray you’re not too late.

After finally winning the heart of the woman I loved, there was no way in hell he was taking her from me.

~ 5 Grayson & Meagan Stars ~

Every time I read a Kelly Elliott book, I have this overwhelming feeling of love and romance. Chasing You was no different. With every book I fall more and more in love with this group of characters. Which in turn is sort of bittersweet because that means we are just that much closer to the end of this series and not getting more of these wonderful characters.

Chasing You is the 5th book in Kelly Elliott’s Love Wanted in Texas series. Each of these books can be read as stand alones but have interconnected characters, so my recommendation is that you read them in numerical order to get the true feeling of each of these characters. One thing I did notice with Chasing You, was that we didn’t see the past characters as much as we did in the other books in this series. This book was truly Grayson and Meagan’s story. We do see some of the past characters but truly as a supportive role and not so much a part of the storyline.

I can’t really talk much about the storyline of Chasing You, because it would spoil a lot of the twists and turns of this story. What I will say is that Kelly does talk about a subject in this book that will hit close to home for many people. I know it hit close to home for me and that was the topic of Bullying. I thought Kelly did a great job telling a true tale of what it is like to be bullied and what a person that is being bullied lives through day to day.

As with all Kelly’s books we did also get a story that is filled with some fun times, romantic times, swoon worthy moments and some heartache, but as one comes to expect from a Kelly Elliott book, this story does end on a happy note and will leave you with a HUGE smile on your face. I loved that Kelly added the element of suspense to this story. She kept me on my toes for the majority of this book. She just kept throwing new twists to the story when I thought I had things figured out!!! She also had that one character we just know we are going to hate throughout the whole book….and Claire was that for me. She was like a bad rash, Grayson just couldn’t get rid of her. I was ready to throat punch her by the end….LOL 🙂

As with every Kelly Elliott book I read, I had a hard time putting this book down. The story was just fantastic and intriguing, I couldn’t read it fast enough. As I have said before Kelly has an amazing talent for creating stories and characters that you fall in love with and want to keep reading about.

I liked that we got to see more of Grace, Noah, Libby, and Lauren in this story. They were wonderful supporting characters for Grayson and Meagan. I liked that we also got to meet some new characters. Especially Ashley (Grayson’s Mom) I loved her!!!!

So if you are a fan of Kelly’s books, you don’t want to miss this one!!! If you are a reader just looking for that fairytale romance book, that gives you a little bit of everything, then I think you should give this book a try. I am looking forward to reading Jase and Taylor’s story next, but I am also sad because that will be the final book of this series and an end to these great characters.

“How was the omelet?”
Meagan’s head snapped up as she glared at me. I placed my hand on the back of the chair and stood there while her eyes quickly did a once over. I didn’t normally work on Saturdays, but I’d been working all night with Derrick on a case. I knew with the weather being unseasonably warm, Meagan would be here this morning, so I decided to end this silent treatment of hers once and for all.
She swallowed hard and then straightened her shoulders as she narrowed her eyes at me. “How did you know I was here?”
I pulled the chair out and sat down as I loosened my tie. Meagan’s eyes flickered for one moment as I pictured her dirty little mind going into a fantasy.
“I’m a detective, Meg. It’s my job to know things.”
She let out a curt laugh and rolled her eyes. “I’d hope you were tracking down the bad people and not what I’ve had for breakfast.” Her mouth dropped open and she tapped her finger on the side of her mouth. “Oh wait. You’re sleeping with one of them, so …”
Her voice cut off as she looked away. What in the fuck did that mean?
“Excuse me?” I asked as I leaned closer to her.
“Never mind.”
Kam walked up and set a black coffee down in front of me along with a piece of banana nut bread. “There ya go, Gray.” Turning to Meagan, she smiled. “Do you need anything else, sweetie?”
Meagan flashed her that beautiful smile of hers and shook her head. “Oh wait! The check please. I’m being chased away.”
“Put it on my tab, Kam,” I said as I continued to watch Meagan.
She flashed me a dirty look and gathered up her things. I knew from following her, she normally sat here for a few hours and read as she people-watched. She’d leave Kam a more than generous tip for taking up a table all morning, and then she headed to her office.
“I can buy my own breakfast.”
With a nod, I said, “I know that.”
Meagan grunted as she stood. Her next stop would be her office. She worked for a non-profit organization called Helping Hands. Meagan worked as a counselor to middle and high school kids dealing with issues like bullying. I’d never seen anyone so passionate about their job. From the little I gathered from Grace, Meagan had a hell of a time in college dealing with bullying of her own.
“Why don’t you spend the day with me, Meg?”
With raised eyebrows, she smirked. “What’s wrong, Claire busy today so you’re going for your backup?”
My body jerked as if someone had slapped me. “I’m sorry for taking that call. I didn’t know it was her.”
Something passed over Meagan’s face. “It doesn’t matter. It’s over and done with.”
I stood and reached for her arm. “Spend the day with me … as friends.”
Meagan lifted her eyebrow. “Friends?”
“Yes.”
“What are you playing at, Gray?”
With a puzzled look, I flashed her the smile I knew she loved. Her breath would hitch every time.
Meagan sucked in a breath as she quickly licked her lips. Bingo.
“Why do you think I’m up to something? You think all I care about is fucking you; I want to show you that’s not true. I want to show you how much I enjoy just hanging out with you.”
Meagan glanced around, worried someone had heard what I said. Turning her head back to me, she narrowed her eyes.
“What did you have in mind?”
